Nestled in the heart of Nelson, at 79 Vernon St, the Unity Well Being Centre isn't just a café; it’s a vibrant community hub that embodies warmth, inclusivity, and a commitment to wholesome well-being. This charming establishment invites you to experience food made with love and integrity, where each meal is designed not just to nourish the body but also to foster connections among locals.

The café is celebrated for offering healthy and hearty dishes that cater to a range of dietary preferences, all served at remarkably affordable prices. Imagine indulging in a four-course lunch for just £4.50, which includes a soothing bowl of soup, a delightful main course, a sweet treat, and a rejuvenating coffee that rounds off your meal perfectly. The experience is akin to a comforting embrace, offering simplicity and satisfaction in every bite.

Unity Well Being Centre has received glowing reviews from patrons who appreciate both the value for money and the friendly atmosphere. As George Adam mentioned, the café serves “healthy nourishing meals at very affordable prices,” which resonates with many who seek wholesome, community-focused dining experiences. Another visitor, Caroline Love, praised the café for its great home-cooked food, delightful coffee, and refreshing smoothies, ensuring there’s something for everyone, whether you’re simply stopping by for a coffee or looking for a satisfying meal.

But what truly sets this place apart is its role within the community. While the café's formal operations may have shifted to support local residents as a "warm hub" — offering free tea, coffee, and toast — it remains a beloved spot where connections are formed, stories are shared, and the spirit of the community thrives. As Yvonne Tennant describes, it’s lovely to see how this historic building has been restored and repurposed, preserving its legacy while nurturing the current community's needs.

The delightful ambiance of the café is enhanced by the friendly staff, many of whom are passionate about the food they serve, some even foraging ingredients locally. This shows a genuine commitment to sustainability and flavor, further making Unity Well Being Centre not just a café, but a place steeped in care and community values.

So whether you’re looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a meal, a place to gather with friends and family as Harry B has enjoyed during family parties, or simply a welcoming environment to savor good food and conversation, Unity Well Being Centre is waiting for you. Come by and experience this exceptional little gem in Nelson; it’s a visit well worth taking.

I have been to several family parties here. Kids enjoy themselves because of space and it's very nice.

Lovely community space with great facilities. Cafe not currently open as such as the space is being used as a "warm hub" for Nelson residents - free tea, coffee and toast.

A really good restoration of an historic building. The ILP in Nelson built this in the late 19th century. Now it commemorates Selina Cooper a member of the ILP. Also contains archive material about the ILP up to date to the present ILP. Really worth a visit.
